Mora Segal, Chief Executive Officer
Prior to joining The Achievement Network, Mora served as Chief Strategy Officer at College Summit, an organization focused on raising the college-going rate of low-income students nationwide. While there, she led strategic planning, public policy, external affairs, marketing and new site development functions. Mora also co-founded a high school sports media company which was acquired by ESPN in 2008. She was a fellow with the Coro Foundation in St. Louis, and served as an Americorps member where she resettled refugees in the Boston area. Mora serves on the board of trustees of ACCESS, and is a founding board member of the Eli J. Segal Citizen Leadership Program. She is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Business School, and lives in the Boston area with her husband and two daughters. msegal@achievementnetwork.org
John Maycock, Founder and Chief Growth Officer
Prior to founding ANet in 2005, John worked for Edtec Inc., a company that offers business, development and educational services to charter schools in California. In this role, John managed overall school relations, analyzed student assessment data, and wrote whole-school accountability plans. John also served as the Managing Director for the Qatar School Reform Project, where he served as a consultant to a national school reform initiative in Doha, Qatar while at Edtec. Previously, John worked at Score! Educational Centers, Inc. In this role, John managed multiple after-school education centers throughout the San Francisco and Oakland Bay Areas, where he was responsible for teaching reading, math and writing to students in grades K-8. John is a graduate of Middlebury College, and also holds a Masters in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. jmaycock@achievementnetwork.org
Beth Chandler, Vice President, Operations
Beth joined ANet in November 2010. Prior to joining ANet, Beth served as the Deputy Director for the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation, which provides funding and technical assistance to civil legal aid programs in Massachusetts. In this role, Beth oversaw all internal operations including human resources, communications, fiscal, research and policy analysis and program oversight. Beth also managed the strategic planning and grant review process. Beth also served as Manager for National Business Development for NeighborWorks America, where she oversaw the development of financial and cause-related marketing partnerships with corporations and foundations. Emma Doggett, Vice President, Program
Emma Doggett joined ANet in 2010 to manage the growth strategy of ANet's national network. She began her career as an 8th grade social studies teacher and Teach For America corps member in Roma, Texas. Serving as department chair, she led the initiative to align the curriculum to state standards and develop interim assessments. Motivated by the significant academic gains of her students, she joined the regional team of Teach For America in the Rio Grande Valley, TX working first as a Program Director leading a cohort of 50 first and second-year teachers and then as the Executive Director. As Executive Director, she managed the regional team and corps of 180 teachers towards the growth and impact of Teach For America’s mission in South Texas. Melea Nalli, Vice President, Networks
Melea Nalli joined ANet in the fall of 2010. She began her career as a special education teacher and Teach For America corps member in southern Texas where she was named the district-wide elementary teacher of the year. She went on to teach in Oakland, CA and in Florida. After teaching, she joined Teach For America’s California Bay Area team to support a cohort of teachers. She then joined Teach For America’s national team as a founding National Program Specialist, supporting the development of Program Directors across the country. She went on to lead the national teacher support and development team as the Vice President. During this time, she helped hone the student outcomes measure and managed the launch and implementation of the “Teaching As Leadership” rubric and structured problem solving teacher development model. Most recently, she led Teach For America’s regional business partner team, which partners with Executive Directors on their human capital strategy. Melea has a B.A. from Bowdoin College in Sociology and Africana Studies and received her Masters in Education Leadership at Harvard University on the Catherine B.
