Kia Young Tate, Ed.D.
Vice president, Southern region
Kia Young Tate is the vice president of southern region at Achievement Network, where she oversees service and support to our partner schools and districts. She was the founding executive director of Tennessee partnerships prior to accepting the role as vice president. Before joining ANet, she was the founding principal of STAR Academy College Preparatory Charter School. Under her leadership, STAR Academy received several recognitions including being named as the #1 Distinguished School for the State of Tennessee—twice! This statewide recognition was based on their continued student achievement. Kia also served as an adjunct professor for Christian Brothers University and the University of Memphis. Previously, Kia was an administrator in the Memphis City Schools and taught mathematics in several cities throughout Tennessee. Kia is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and the University of Memphis, where she received her doctorate in Leadership and Policy Studies. Outside of work, she is an active member in several civic and social organizations focused on public service and enjoys spending time with her family.
