Melinda Spooner joined ANet in 2011 as the founding executive director for the Chicago Network, where she built a network of over 50 district and charter schools. She began her career at SCORE! Educational Centers in Atlanta, where she directed after-school reading and math programs for elementary and middle school students. Melinda spent a brief time away from education while earning an MBA and working as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company, but returned to the field to work for Chicago Public Schools as the Director of School Performance Management. At CPS, she led a team of practitioners that developed tools and resources to support teachers and school leaders across the district in their effort to effectively use data to inform instructional decisions. Melinda is now returning to ANet after working as a partner at The Management Center, where she coached education sector leaders to more effective management and better results. She has a B.A. from Davidson College and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.
