ANet is a nonprofit dedicated to the premise that every child in America deserves an excellent education and the opportunities it provides. We pursue our vision of educational equality in America by helping schools boost student learning with great teaching that is grounded in standards, informed by data, and built on the successful practices of educators around the country.

Our support for systems

Clear strategy and strong leadership at the system level can have positive ripple effects throughout all the schools and classrooms in a district or CMO. ANet’s support helps put these conditions in place.

A culture of learning that’s more than the sum of its parts

From the classroom to the school to the district, students and educators succeed when everyone works toward the same goals. We believe that choices made at the system level have a deep impact on excellence and equity for all students.

Based on everything we’ve learned about effective school and system practices from eleven years of work in over a thousand schools, our system support work focuses on clear strategy and effective implementation in three key practice areas:

  • Strategic use of quality assessments
  • High-quality, standards-aligned materials
  • Meaningful, connected professional learning

Long-term collaboration on building strong practices

System Partnerships help leaders strengthen the use of standards and data to drive great teaching and learning across the system. We add ongoing strategic collaboration with system leaders to our core support for schools—multi-year engagements in which schools have access to ANet interim assessments, instructional tools, and coaching.

ANet’s work with me at the network level provides me with the knowledge, skills, and tools in my toolkit to better support the instructional capacity of my leaders and the teachers they support. They’ve helped me identify good instruction in practice and provide strategies to support it.
— Angel L. Turner, director of school leadership, AUSL

Intensive, short-term strategy consulting

System Advising helps system leaders evaluate and strengthen their academic strategy focused on assessments, instructional materials, and professional learning through a short-term, intensive engagement of up to six months.

ANet consulting provides our school systems with an objective, third-party review of their current assessment systems and their alignment to standards and professional development. Our districts find this support invaluable.
— Rebecca Kockler, asst. superintendent of academic content, LDOE
ANet worked with us based on who we are, what we already had in place, and helped us take it to a much higher level going into next year. ANet did not come in with a program or predetermined view of what we needed to do, but built our capacity to do the work. ANet did a lot of work in between our planning meetings…so we were able to accomplish a lot in a few months time.
— Jean Wing, executive director, research, assessment & data, Oakland Unified School District

ANet tailors support to district needs

ANet’s system support is flexible and highly responsive. We know a cookie-cutter approach doesn’t work. Every district and every school has its own unique set of strengths and challenges. We begin every engagement with learning in depth about our partner’s specific situation, then adjust our support to meet their needs. As those needs evolve, so does our support.
